The first German Ballroom Festival (BVO) was organised in August 2012 and enthusiastically received by participants, spectators and the press. The annual Berlin Voguing Out Festival was from then on held a total of 5 times, each with Programm between 3 - 7 Days. The program of each Festival included Intensive Workshop, Panel Talks, Film Viewings and of course a Ball with invited Guest Teachers/Judges, mainly from the American Ballroom Scene.
Focused on the social component of Ballroom culture, the Festival aimed to teach, learn and establish historical and current forms of Ballroom in Germany. Through constant presence and a targeted development, the BVO Festival was considered a cultural hub for Ballroom/Voguing in Europe at that time. For Germany it was an essential tool to learn more about this complex Culture and establish a foundation for a local community.
